About the Event

Welcome to Our BCGT Student Book Club Adventure! πŸ“šβœ¨

We’re excited to introduce the BCGT Book Club for 3rd–5th grade students! This is a fun opportunity for kids from across District 220 to read great chapter books, share ideas, and meet new friends who enjoy reading too.

Students will help choose the books! Whether they enjoy fantasy, mysteries, historical fiction, adventure, funny stories, or a favorite series, we want to hear what interests them.

πŸ‚ Fall Book Club

Our first chapter book will be selected in September based on student interest.

  • October: Meet after reading approximately half of the book to discuss characters, favorite moments, and predictions.

  • November: Meet after finishing the book to discuss the ending and share overall thoughts.

❄️ Winter Book Club

Our second chapter book will be selected in December based on student interest.

  • January: Meet after reading approximately half of the book.

  • February: Meet after finishing the book and discuss the finale.

Please note: The October, November, January, and February meetings are currently placeholders while we gauge interest and finalize plans. Exact dates, times, and locations have not yet been determined. We are hoping to hold the meetings at the Barrington Area Library, subject to availability. Once everything is confirmed, we will update participating families with the final details.

This is meant to be fun and social β€” no essays or tests! Along the way, students can strengthen their reading, communication, and writing skills while connecting with other kids from across the district.

Interested students must sign up using our Book Club Interest Form:

Parents, please make sure all book suggestions are age-appropriate for students in grades 3–5.

We can’t wait to see what our BCGT readers choose! πŸ“šπŸ’™πŸ’›
