π BCGT Book Club Is Off to an Amazing Start!
Our first BCGT Book Club for 3rdβ5th grade students is officially underwayβand our young readers have exceeded our expectations!
Nearly 25 students from across District 220 expressed interest in participating. From the very beginning, we wanted students to have a voice in their Book Club experience. They shared their favorite books, genres, and series, helped shape our list of choices, and ultimately selected our very first book:

Our readers are now halfway through the book, and their enthusiasm has been incredible!
Students are coming to Book Club ready to talk, question, predict, and explore. Their conversations have been thoughtful and multilayered as they discuss characters and their different personalities, uncover clues, compare interpretations, build on one another's ideas, and sometimes challenge each other to see the story in an entirely new way.
And they're having fun doing it!

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are participating side by side, and it has been wonderful to see how engaged they are with one another. These students aren't simply reading a bookβthey're thinking deeply, making connections, finding their voices, and discovering other kids who share their love of reading.
That's exactly what we hoped BCGT Book Club would become: a welcoming, screen-free space where students can read, think, laugh, solve puzzles, share big ideas, and build new friendships across District 220.

Next up, our readers will finish The Mysterious Benedict Society and return for our final book discussions in November.
Then it's time for Book #2!
Students will once again help choose our next selection, with our second BCGT Book Club cycle taking place in January and February.
